Mike Chavis: Creator of Stop the Pain Moment
Founded in 2013 by Michael Wayne Chavis, retired North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sergeant.
Throughout his career, Michael was frequently confronted with traumatic events which eventually took an emotional toll and led to a personal struggle with alcohol and drug addiction.
Entering and successfully completing treatment, Michael was able to gain a full understanding of the needed awareness, programs, and community support required for the effective prevention and treatment of substance use.
Michael was a passionate man who was dedicated to his job, family, and community. He was also a die- hard North Carolina State fan. Tragically, family, friends, the community, and Stop the Pain lost Michael in a house fire in December of 2016.
