About PAWSS Inc.

Building hope and healing in Robeson County since 2016

Our Story

PAWSS Inc. was founded in 2016 as a response to the growing substance use crisis affecting Robeson County and surrounding areas. What started as one family's commitment to making a difference has grown into a comprehensive nonprofit organization serving thousands in our community.

The name PAWSS stands for Promoting Awareness, Wellness, and Support Services. This commitment reminds us daily that behind every statistic is a family, and every life saved impacts an entire community.

Why We Exist

Robeson County faces unique challenges that impact the overall health and well-being of its residents. As a rural community with limited resources, many individuals and families struggle to access essential services, support systems, and opportunities that promote long-term stability and wellness. PAWSS Inc. works to bridge these gaps by bringing resources directly to those who need them most through a variety of community-based initiatives.

While our core and foundational programs focus on substance use prevention, intervention, and recovery support, we also provide programs and services that address youth development, resiliency building, grief support, housing stability, transportation barriers, social networking, coalition building, and other social determinants of health that affect individuals, families, and communities across Robeson County.
